UK: Study abroad is invaluable – students deserve clarity on Erasmus
Will the UK cease to be an Erasmus + programme country ? According to Vivienne Stern, Director of Universities UK International, the continued participation in Erasmus + is not at the top of the Brexit agenda. Even though more than 300,000 students from the UK have benefitted, over the last 30 years, from a period of work or study abroad, universities cannot affirm with any certainty whether the UK will still be eligible to participate in the Erasmus + scheme as of 2018. The same is true for their European counterparts whose students might be planning to come to the UK. More than ever, we must draw attention to the value of outward mobility and the skills being fostered such as adaptability, better degree outcomes, better employability prospects long-term and higher salaries.
